MACH Slack Jaw; The Workhorse of the Lineup
In search of an all-purpose bait to have tied on for any condition and any season of the year? Look no further than the MACH Slack Jaw. In warm water and blistering cold, calm weather or driving wind, shallow banks or deep cover, this 1/2 oz. lipless crankbait is a producer.
Built with two separate line ties to dial in on the perfect depth, The Slack Jaw excels in covering shallow water banks to target actively feeding fish, as well as deeper haunts when fish move off in search of cooler water. Simply use the rear tie to keep the Slack Jaw higher in the water column in the 2-5 ft. range to avoid snags. Use the forward tie when you need to achieve more depth.
The Slack Jaw maintains an unbelievably natural swimming action when burned across shallow flats around rock, timber and grasslines. It is known to entice powerful reaction strikes from predators cruising the shallows. That is exactly how the Slack Jaw got its name; These bone-jarring strikes will knock slack in your line when the Slack Jaw does its magic.
Yet during the dog days of summer or deep winter months when extreme water temperatures push the fish out of shallow feeding grounds, the Slack Jaw excels at slowly rolling over deep cover, creek channels and ledges. No special action required; simply “yo-yo” the Slack Jaw or use a stop-and-go retrieve to entice finicky fish into biting. Though its rattle chamber makes the Slack Jaw hard to ignore during a quick retrieve or when bounced aggressively across the bottom, it can also be fished slowly for a very subtle presentation when fish won’t actively chase down a fast-moving bait.
The 7’ Medium Heavy Mach 2 Casting Combo is an ideal rig for targeting shallow cover as well as chasing down fish in deeper water. The reel’s 7.5:1 ratio is a great all-purpose ratio that works well for the many applications of the Slack Jaw, as well as a host of other fishing styles.
